Charkaoui Judgement Lifts Some Restrictions

In a Federal Court decision, Adil Charkaoui was released from most of the restrictive conditions to his communications and travel that he has lived under for the last four years under a Security Certificate.

A memo from the Coalition Justice for Adil Charkaoui celebrates the judgment, but cautions that the validity of the certificate itself has not been decided, and Adil is still could face the re-imposition of these conditions or deportation. He also remains subject to some of the surveillance measures, as do three other security certificate detainees, who live under restrictive measures.
